We are delighted to welcome you to L'Amphitryon , our eco-friendly guest house nestled in a former 18th-century presbytery , in the heart of the Haut-Béarn, in the Pyrenean foothills south of Pau (64 - Pyrénées Atlantiques).

A unique setting for a relaxing, environmentally friendly stay

Since our arrival , we have wanted to preserve the soul and history of this beautiful 18th-century residence while creating a warm, comfortable place open to nature in order to welcome our guests for a stay that is undoubtedly a little different from others.

Located in the medieval quarter of Oloron-Sainte-Marie , between Pau , the Hautes-Pyrénées , and the Basque Country , the L'Amphitryon guest house It offers an ideal location for discovering the charm of the city on foot and enjoying the proximity of the mountains , the Pyrenean rivers, and a rich and renowned heritage .

With its walls steeped in history , its welcoming rooms and its terraced garden overlooking the Gave d'Ossau, the atmosphere at L'Amphitryon invites you to relax, to reconnect with the pleasures of reading, gardening, listening to the river and also simply doing nothing.

The house is located in the heart of the city, on Place Saint-Pierre in the medieval quarter of Sainte-Croix in Oloron Sainte Marie, a privileged location with access on foot (between 2 and 10 minutes) to many restaurants.

Discovering the Béarn Pyrenees

To explore Béarn and its surroundings, L'Amphitryon is ideally located in the foothills of the Pyrenees. There are so many beautiful things to discover; everyone will find something to enjoy!

Oloron Sainte-Marie, with its typical architecture , historic districts , narrow streets, and heritage, deserves a visit. It's the last town before the Spanish border and Aragon, on the road to Zaragoza.

Within a few kilometers of the house, you will find a multitude of activities : hiking in the valleys of Aspe, Ossau and Barétous, river sports , typical villages and landscapes , cultural visits, discovery of the local produce and heritage.

The Basque Country, Pau, Bigorre and even Spain are also less than an hour's drive away to offer a variety of experiences.

The 2027 Tour de France in the Pyrenees

The route for the 2027 Tour de France has been unveiled. It gives pride of place to the Pyrenees and in particular to Béarn.

Our guest house is at the heart of the 17th, 18th and 19th stages.

Are you a fan of the Tour de France atmosphere, a cycling enthusiast, or do you simply want to take advantage of this opportunity to continue your exploration of the Pyrenees ?

With us, you will be less than 2 hours from the main hotspots of these stages: the arrival of the 17th stage in Pau, the 18th stage with for example the Soulor pass and the arrival in Saint-Lary Soulan and the 19th stage with the Soudet and Marie-Blanque passes or the arrival in Laruns.

You can enjoy "relaxing" evenings in the garden or in nearby restaurants/bars and, after a good night's sleep, leave in the morning refreshed by our delicious breakfast!

How to get to our place?

Whether you are just passing through for one night or staying for several days, we want your arrival to be as easy as possible.

BY CAR : on the Pau – Jaca - Zaragoza axis, 35 km south of Pau (France) and 80 km from Jaca (Aragon – Spain).

Free parking in Place Saint-Pierre in front of L'Amphitryon.

We provide a charging station for your vehicle.

BY TRAIN : Oloron Sainte-Marie train station is 1.4 km from our location: TER regional trains from Pau ( timetables)). Pau is served by the TGV.

We can pick you up at the train station.

BY BIKE : on the route of the Pyrenean passes (Soudet, Marie-Blanque, Aubisque passes, etc.), "Accueil Vélo" label.

ON FOOT : directly on the Saint Jacques de Compostelle routes GR653 (Arles Way) and GR78 (Piedmont Way).

BY PLANE : Pau Airport 40 km away, Tarbes Airport 70 km away and Biarritz Airport 110 km away.
