How to get to us?

BY CAR : on the Pau-Zaragoza axis, 35 km from Pau (France) and 80 km from Jaca (Aragon – Spain)

BY TRAIN : Oloron Sainte-Marie train station is 1.4 km from us: TER from Pau which is served by the TGV

BY BIKE : We are labeled ""Accueil Vélo"", on the route of the Pyrenean passes (Soudet, Marie-Blanque, Aubisque passes, etc.).

ON FOOT : we are directly on the GR653 (Arles Way) and GR78 (Piedmont Way) routes to Santiago de Compostela.

BY PLANE : Pau Airport 40 km away, Tarbes 70 km away and Biarritz 110 km away.

Getting around our area: Various soft mobility options are available.

What Labels for L'Amphitryon?

Label = Quality assurance for accommodation and services

Obtaining a label is based on compliance, by the accommodation that receives it, with precise specifications defined and controlled by the accreditation body.

Compliance with these requirements thus provides guests with assurance of the quality of the services provided.

3 EPIS from Gîtes de France

Gîtes de France is a network, a brand and a label of accommodation in private homes in France and Europe created in 1955. The Gîtes de France quality certification® guarantees precise comfort standards and compliance with a national charter.

The Amphitryon has received 3 EPIS approval.

This classification ensures that our guests will have at their disposal, in our characterful residence located in a listed medieval district of Oloron Sainte-Marie, very comfortable rooms, equipped with complete bathrooms (with hairdryer available) and private bathrooms integrated into the room, with careful and quality decoration .

European EcoLabel

The European Ecolabel is an official certification issued by AFNOR , recognized throughout Europe, which guarantees environmentally friendly practices .

This label, awarded in 2024 to the Amphitryon, rewards the organization of our guest house which:

• Reduces its environmental impact across its entire business.

• Promotes the use of local and sustainable products .

• Limits energy and water consumption and waste production.

For our guests, this certification is a guarantee of quality and sustainability, confirming that staying at L'Amphitryon also means choosing more responsible tourism.

This label commits us to implementing the Environmental Policy that we have implemented.

Welcome to the Bike Label

Accueil Vélo is a national brand of France Vélo Tourisme,A non-profit organization whose goal is to develop cycle tourism in France. This label guarantees a high-quality welcome and services along cycle routes.

The Accueil Vélo label means, in particular, the guarantee for our cyclist guests to have at the Amphitryon, suitable equipment (secure bike shelter, repair kit) and a warm welcome with practical information, advice, routes, weather etc.

Tourist Guides

Tourist guides are quite sensitive to the experience linked to their editorial line.

Anonymous visitors from the Lonely Planet and Michelin guides have been impressed by our guesthouse.

What facilities are available for our guests on business trips?

High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

Each room has a desk.

A quiet and bright workspace, separate from the bedrooms, equipped with two large desks is available for our guests wishing to work comfortably.

What equipment for relaxation and well-being?

We can enjoy the reception area inside with a courtesy tray, music and a board games area.

Relaxation Areas:

Tables, chairs and deckchairs are available in different areas of the terraced garden.

Fitness area:

Our small fitness room, a friendly space overlooking the wooded garden, is the ideal place to take care of yourself or even to train in complete peace.

Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation:

Enjoy the calm and serene atmosphere of the house to discover and introduce yourself to Mindfulness Meditation! Mindfulness practitioner, accredited by E. Lorato at the Ecole de la Présence in Lyon, Marie-Pierre will lead this session to raise your awareness of the benefits of mindfulness.

What equipment is available for my baby?

A cot and high chair are available upon request at the time of booking.

What languages are spoken at the Amphitryon?

We speak English, Spanish and a few words of Italian to make your stay easier.

Is there a library/discotheque?

A selection of books is available in each room.

Our record collection is available for listening in the living room in front of the fireplace.

Is the establishment accessible to people with reduced mobility?

The Amphitryon is an 18th century house which has retained all its original charm, including an old wooden staircase leading to the bedrooms.

Access is therefore unsuitable for people with reduced mobility.

What are the arrival and departure times?

Arrival :

Check-in is between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you arrive outside of this time slot, please contact us at 05 59 39 78 50 or 06 95 38 02 65. The house is equipped with a digital code: the access code will be given to you upon your arrival, thus guaranteeing total autonomy.

Departure

On the day of your departure, please vacate your room by 10 a.m. The balance of your stay is due on that day. We accept cash, credit cards, holiday vouchers, and checks (with ID for amounts over €100). An invoice will be sent by email.
 

How do I park my bike, motorcycle, or car?

• Car parking : Parking available on Place Saint-Pierre, a public car park near L'Amphitryon.

• Bicycle storage : A closed space for bicycles is available.

• Motorcycle parking : Motorcycles can be parked in the driveway of the enclosed garden in front of the house.

How do I charge my Electric Vehicle?

The Amphitryon has an electric charging station. Other stations are available within a 3 km radius of Oloron-Sainte-Marie.
 

Where to dine in Oloron Sainte-Marie?

Restaurants are within walking distance of the Amphitryon. We are available to advise you based on your current preferences.
 

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not allowed at the Amphitryon.

What actions are being taken to reduce the ecological footprint?

We are EU Ecolabel certified.

This certification is the result of a collective effort , carried out with passion and conviction, to integrate environmentally friendly practices into every aspect of our guesthouse. Among our initiatives:

• Optimization of resources : reduction of water and energy consumption.

• Recycling and waste management: adoption of sustainable solutions to limit impacts.

• Promoting local products : using products from the Béarn region for our breakfasts.

• Social and local commitment : support for local artisans and producers, partnership with the ESAT of Bidos, French courses for new arrivals.

What is the Environmental Policy implemented?

Our Environmental Policy , which we will continue to implement, is the cornerstone of the European EcoLabel .

What amenities and services are included in the rooms?

• Breakfast: included and served from 7am to 9am.

• Wi-Fi access : The Wi-Fi code is displayed in your room. Illegal downloads are prohibited.

• Room amenities : Television (French and TNT channels), coffee/tea maker, and minibar with cold drinks.

• Linen and respect for the environment : We limit the waste of bed and bathroom linen, as part of our eco-responsible approach in accordance with the standards of the European Ecolabel.

• Room cleaning: every day during your stay.

• Outdoor spaces : Enjoy the garden and outdoor lounges to relax.

• Local information: Brochures and maps are available in the lounge. We will be happy to advise you.

• First aid kit : Available in the entrance cabinet.
