Less than 15 minutes on foot

Oloron Sainte-Marie is a town in Béarn classified as ""Art and History""» with a very strong tradition of pilgrimage. Its different districts can be explored on foot.

Our guest house is located in the heart of the medieval district of Sainte Croix on the Place St Pierre. For art lovers you can visit, directly on the Place Saint Pierre, the Galerie du Jardin Intérieur and the Maison de Léa . The Sainte Croix church built in the 11th century with its dome dominates the lower town and offers a magnificent panorama of the Pic d'Anie which peaks at more than 2500 m and the Pyrenees mountain range.

The bridges spanning the Aspe and Ossau rivers offer very original views of the architecture of the buildings which are very typical of the region.

The Sainte Marie district is built around the magnificent Romanesque cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Notre Dame district is very lively during the Friday market!

The beret and Basque fabric weaving factories and the chocolate factory are also worth a little detour.

Oloron Sainte-Marie is also home to a branch of the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives in Béarn, which organizes events throughout the year on the themes of biodiversity, landscapes and natural heritage, climate change, natural risks and ecological transition: find out more!

Just a stone's throw away (less than 30 minutes)

You can taste a little foie gras or sheep's cheese from the producers or even a glass of wine in the vineyards and cellars of Jurançon.

Many Road bike or mountain bike circuits allow you to tackle the Pyrenean foothills including the famous Col de Marie-Blanque!

Why not go tree climbing at the OBA'O leisure park in Accous? Or an Organic Well-Being Massage in Bedous where you will benefit from a specific rate by coming from us?

The river network is ideal for trout and salmon fishing, and rafting on the Aspe or Oloron rivers.

The church of the Saint Blaise Hospital, the cloister of Sarrance or the typical village of Monein and its church with its inverted boat hull frame are examples of the rich Béarnese cultural heritage.

In the Aspe Valley ecomuseum in Sarrance, a model allows you to familiarize yourself with the villages, peaks, gave, rivers and to discover the unusual history of the village.

Agriculture and pastoralism mark the seasons in the valleys of Haut-Béarn. The Lourdios ecomuseum immerses us in this world.

The Gurs Camp Memorial reminds us in a very factual way of the dark sides of the Second World War.

For a getaway (less than 1 hour)

To the north, you will find the city of Pau with the castle of Henri IV, the boulevard des Pyrénées with its exceptional panorama, the racecourse, the national stud farm, the 2 golf courses, etc.

Towards the south, you are in the heart of the mountains discovering the Aspe or Ossau valleys: remarkable natural sites such as the Lescun cirque, the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, the underground room of La Verna, without forgetting the mountain resorts of Pierre Saint Martin, Gourette or Artouste. These are the starting points for magnificent hikes in the Aspe Valley or the Ossau Valley. accessible to beginner walkers to the most experienced hikers. The bikeor the motorbike remains an extraordinary means of crisscrossing the small ""bucolic"" roads of Haut-Béarn!

The Parc Ours , an association and educational park in Borce in the Haute Vallée d'Aspe, allows you to easily see Pyrenean wildlife in its natural environment (brown bears, izards, marmots, fallow deer, etc.).

The Pyrenees National Park houses in Laruns (in the Ossau valley) or in Etsaut (in the Aspe valley) offer you information and documentation areas on the National Park, the natural and cultural riches of the valleys, hiking routes, refuges, fauna, flora and regulations. Permanent exhibitions on the flora and large fauna of the Pyrenees and in particular on the brown bear and temporary exhibitions are available throughout the year.

A little further west is the Barétous valley or Soule, the most authentic Basque province with Mauléon, the capital of the espadrille.

To the North West, there is Béarn des Gaves with Navarrenx, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France and renowned for sport fishing, Sauveterre de Béarn or the spa resort of Salies de Béarn which also supplies the salt for Bayonne hams.

For the whole day

Many day hikes in the Aspe Valley or the Ossau Valley for all levels offer the possibility of crisscrossing the Pyrenees National Park and enjoying the typical and preserved panoramas of the Pyrenees, the summer pastures with their flocks of sheep, horses, the flights of vultures and even izards...

In summer, you can admire at the Soulor pass (on the border with the Val d'Azun), with the Association d'Observation des Rapaces , the migratory birds and emblematic raptors of the Pyrenees: griffon vultures, Egyptian vultures, kites, etc.

For the less sporty, a little detour to Spain, in Aragon , through the Aspe Valley is a great change of scenery. The very characteristic Canfranc station and the typical town of Jaca are easily accessible via the Aspe Valley and the Somport Pass.

In the Ossau Valley, the little Artouste train allows you to climb to over 2000 m altitude without effort and discover exceptional panoramas. At the Col du Portalet, at the highest point of the valley, you can enjoy the view of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau and the typical Spanish "Benta"!

How about a dip in the ocean waves less than an hour and a half away?
